HUNTINGTON COMMUNITY On 19 December around 6:00 P.M. a white or foreign male knocked a door of a house in the Huntington area advertising what look like $100.00 copied bills for Chadwick Restaurant in Old Town Alexandria, VA. He indicated that he was soliciting local residents to frequent the Old Town Virginia and by giving him $30 for the pack of coupons, the difference would be taken off when one visited the three restaurants listed on the coupon. The resident called a next door neighbor and the individual in question knocked on the neighbors door as well. In any case, the resident in question called Chadwick and asked to speak to the manager and informed her of the incident. The manager indicated that they did have a promotion of a $1.00 bill and that she would inform the owners. The crime prevention officers were contacted and their response follows: "Big time scam as far as they are concerned….Please let everyone know to call the police (703-691-2131) if any individual like this shows up at your door. Don’t tell them you are calling the police, get as good a description as possible, and hopefully we catch them down the block a ways. Anyone going door to door requires a license to do so, and these coupon deals are a real scam. |
